about

'Blue Moon Bossa' is Muca & La Marquise second single; an introspective jazzy-esque bossa track.

“Great songs and amazing production!” Roberto Menescal, one of the founders Bossa Nova.

“The music and the video are a delight” Will Gompertz, Head Of Arts BBC.

“Love the project” - Ray Jones CEO Talent BanQ , former Time Out Magazine editor .

After grabbing the attention of heavy-weights such as Roberto Menescal and Will Gompertz on their debut single ‘London’, Muca & La Marquise unveils their second single, ‘Blue Moon Bossa’.

Muca, the mastermind behind the project, evokes his Brazilian origins and revisits the most-loved Brazilian genre. Inspired by artists like João Gilberto and Tom Jobim, but revitalized for modern times, the song is as much about its lyrics and melody as it is about the images it evokes.

For that, Muca teamed up with Ed Murray, who was then put in charge of bringing this cosmically contemplative song into video form.

From Muca: “The minute I’ve written it, I knew it needed an animated music video to follow it. I had some concepts in mind and contacted the incredible illustrator, Ed Murray, who I am a fan of, to develop the concept. I couldn’t be more satisfied with the result”.

Inspiration behind release

The track came from the fact Muca wanted to revisit his homeland, and musically felt he was disconnected with his Brazilian roots. “I have a background of rock and blues, but really, I always had the Brazilian music hidden somewhere. I thought it was time to bring that back to my composition. Having La Marquise singing the song is fantastic, as she can really groove, and has added a magical touch to it.

Writing and recording process

The process of songwriting was straightforward. Muca adds: “Myself and La Marquise have an excellent music connection. Most of the songs we wrote were quite fast and flew easy. It all starts with guitars and vocals. I bring the first ideas with chord progressions on the guitar and some melodies. She then brings her notebook and begins to add lyrics and add more melodies to it.
I was amazed how the track came up into the Bossa Nova/Jazz style, and I’m delighted with the song and album result.

On the production side, Muca didn’t want to go for an old-style approach. He then contacted Bruno Buarque, drummer, percussionist and producer based in São Paulo, (Criolo, Céu, Chico César).
“I told him and wanted a different approach for this song, using more electronic elements to this track.
He added some exciting Brazilian style elements, using his MPC to reproduce instruments such as cuica, bumbo, tamborin, ganza, and shakers. He recorded in Brazil and sent me the files, where I worked with the arrangements”. Yaron Stavi (David Gilmour, Phil Manzanera) added the double bass. The overdubs and mixing were done at Muca’s studio in Hackney Central, The Secret Warehouse of Sound.

The album Muca & La Marquise is set to be released in early 2021 with a huge surprise being featured.

lyrics

Blue moon Bossa- by Muca & La Marquise

Verse 1:
Something about this place
Floats me to outter space
Can’t keep myself from falling,
Far away, I hear you calling
What if it’s just the chase,
Then I disappear without a trace
So I’m writing you this song,
Would love it if you sing along,

Chorus:
Darling don’t look away,
Love is bling they say,
I’ll bring you all the fallen stars,
If you heal all my open scars

Verse 2:
The morning shines you trough,
Do you sense it too?
Can’t keep myself from thinking,
Close to you and I want your loving
Caught me so easily,
And I promise, you’ll get the best of me,
So I’ve written you this song,
Would love it if you sing along

Chorus:
Darling don’t look away,
Love is bling they say,
I’ll bring you all the fallen stars,
If you heal all my open scars.
Tangerine hours of the day,
The Blue Moon is here to stay,

Chorus:
Darling don’t look away,
Love is bling they say,
I’ll bring you all the fallen stars,
If you heal all my open scars.
Tangerine hours of the day,
The Blue Moon is here to stay,
The Blue Moon is here to stay….
